Coffee and prosecco flowed. Melissa Brooks from Exquisite Bakes provided a fabulous birthday cake and over £150.00 was raised kick starting our #10years10charities campaign.
Jo set ego up in 2006 after being made redundant from JCB where she worked as a web designer. Initially the business was run from the spare bedroom. Rachel joined the business the following year and it grew to the point where they needed to move to a dedicated studio in 2009. Over the last 10 years Ego has grown in terms of both staff and turnover and had to move premises several times to accommodate them! It now employs 5 people – Jo, Rachel, Caroline, web developer Kayleigh and designer Lucy (who both started with the company as part of the government Apprentice scheme) – and is based at offices at Ednaston Home Farm in Brailsford.
We have raised £2,009.18 of our £10,000.00 target. It is 20.09% of our goal for the 10 Years, 10 Charities campaign
This year we’re celebrating 10 years in business. To commemorate this special milestone we have each chosen 2 charities close to our hearts.
Throughout the year we will be taking part in numerous fundraising activities as well as hosting events here at our studio. Our aim is raise £10,000 which will be split equally across the 10 charities.
Our chosen charities are:
leading the fight against dementia
befriending people over the telephone to make people’s lives better
offering free practical, emotional and social support to people with cancer and their families and friends
helping animals in need in South Yorkshire since 2002
solely concerned with combating stroke in people of all ages
The Charlotte Blackman Memorial Fund
helping to raise awareness and funds for local charities and organisations working with autistic and vulnerable children

Lucy has settled in with us really quickly and is already working alongside Rachel on live client projects.

This year we ran a competition to win a professionally designed website. To enter you had to simply donate £5 or more and tell us your favourite joke. We had quite a few interesting jokes to choose from but our favourite was from Steven Challinor –
Three balloons. Daddy balloon, mummy balloon and baby balloon.
Daddy balloon says to baby balloon, look son, you are much too old to sleep with mummy and daddy, you will have to sleep in you’re own bed. Baby balloon protests, I like sleeping with you and mummy. No you are not sleeping with us and that’s final. Ok said baby balloon sadly.
Two in the morning baby ballon wakes up and decides to climb into bed with mummy and daddy. He finds there is no room, so he unties his dads knot and lets out some air, and ties him up again. Still no room, he unties his mummys knot, also lets some air out and ties her up again. He still can’t get in, so he unties his own knot, lets out some air, and ties himself up again, he finally has room, and snuggles down with mummy and daddy.
The next day they all wake, and daddy balloon is really angry. He said son, I am really disapointed with you, I said you couldn’t sleep with us. You’ve let me down, you’re mummy down, and you’re self down.
Well done Steven!
A big thank you to everyone who entered. We smashed our target.
Jo, Rachel, Caroline and Kayleigh.

Over the past few years we have supported many charities by giving up a little of our spare time to take part in fundraising activities. Last year we raised £375.00 for Sport Relief and Cancer Research.
This year, we’ve decided to nominate a member of the team to choose a charity of their choice. Jo is our chosen nominee, and for 2015 she has decided to help ‘Kyle’s Goal’, a charity set up by her friend, Chris.
Chris’s nephew, Kyle was a typically fit, healthy, intelligent and active twelve year old boy. On 14th November 2009 he asked to be taken to the accident and emergency unit at the University Hospital of Wales (UHW) in Cardiff, due to a severe headache and quickly slipped into unconsciousness. What was unknown at the time was that he was suffering a massive brain haemorrhage caused by a rare condition called Arteriovenous Malformations.
We’re pleased to say that 5 years since Kyle was admitted to hospital he has made a steady recovery and his family have successfully set up ‘Kyle’s Goal’, a charity with big ambitions. With a target of £7million they aim to use the funds to build a rehabilitation unit in South Wales for Kyle and similar children that have suffered brain injuries.
We’re giving up our time to help Chris, Kyle and his family by designing and building a new website which will have the facility to donate online and find out about forthcoming fundraising events. The site’s design is heavily influenced by Kyle’s passion for football. We’re enjoying working on the project and we hope that Kyle loves the end result!

We’re proud to announce that we’ve recently been awarded Recommended Agency Status on the Recommended Agency Register (RAR).
RAR is a marketing and media information specialist that gathers information from companies and measures a company’s level of customer satisfaction, asking clients to rate their suppliers. Only companies who score highly become recommended and are included in the register.
We’d like to say a big thank you to all our clients that have taken the time to rate us and help us achieve our new RAR status. It’s a proud moment for ego and a testament to how hard the team work with the support of our clients.
