Think charity for older people and you could be forgiven for thinking of images of ‘seniors’ that are either gloomily negative or falsely and inappropriately upbeat. Not good enough for Age Concern Slough and Berkshire East.
Serving one of the most vibrant and culturally diverse regions in the UK, ACSABE is an independent charity focused on meeting the needs of older people in Slough, ranging from the energetic fifty-something job seeker through to the nonagenarian in need of a new hobby or hairstyle. The charity faces a wide range of challenges. With realism. With optimism.
With a limited budget and unlimited ambition, ACSABE talked to a number of design companies about re-thinking existing literature and designing new promotions to increase turnover in their retail outlets. They needed an image that reflects their fresh, original approach.
They chose ego.
Why? Because we understand and are inspired by the charity’s objectives. We can help them reach their goals. Most important of all, we can communicate with those staff and volunteers for whom marketing is a mystery.
Working with ACSABE, we are called upon to be proactive. Our input and experience means we not only fulfil individual briefs, but help to shape them.
Our first project was an in-store promotion, designed to increase footfall and enhance profits in the charity’s ever-increasing number of retail stores. We’re now working our way through a backlog of leaflets and brochures, all of which need a major re-appraisal.
The results, so far, are relevant, pertinent, engaging, but like nothing you’d expect.
Call us in for a cuppa and a chat (and a biscuit, if that’s not pushing our luck). Despite our name, we’re surprisingly ego-free. And we won’t want to keep banging on about us. We’d like to hear about you.
